Happy 2016! Check out these available new resources:
ANA Scope and Standards for both Pediatric and Cardiovascular Nursing
Both of these books provide the scope and standards for nursing practice for both the direct care nurse and the advanced practice nurse. These are the legal guidelines that direct your practice. The books are available at the following links:
Cardiovascular Nursing http://ddd.nursebooks.org/Homepage/Hot-off-the-Press/Cardiovascular-Nursing-2nd-Ed.aspx
Pediatric Nursing http://nursesbooks.org/Main-Menu/Standards/Pediatric-Nursing-Scope-and-Standards-2nd-Ed.aspx?utm_source=SPCN&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=PediatricsSS&utm_term=ana&utm_content=books
You may want to share these links with your employers so that they may also provide these books for their nursing staff.
I also want to encourage you to register for the CHiP Network! The registration is on chipnetwork.org
The CHIP Network, the Congenital Heart Professionals Network, is designed to provide a single global list of all CHD-interested professionals in order to:
• Connect pediatric and adult CHD-interested professionals to events, conferences, research opportunities and employment
• Increase education and provider awareness of new developments in the field
• Bring the pediatric and adult congenital heart communities into closer contact
• Offer a communication tool for critical issues
Last, but not least, are the Clinical Guidelines on our own website, www.spcnonline.com These Guidelines have been updated and new ones added! Over the next 4 weeks we will also add 4-10 new or updated documents. These guidelines are great tools for orientation or to support a nurse in providing updated care for a CHD patient of any age! Check them out!
Look for a new format and functionality of our website! It should be ready in March. We need and welcome comments and suggestions.
