Greetings to all SPCN members!
It is that time of year to begin thinking of our Annual Meeting and the election of officers.
As Past President part of my responsibility is to prepare the Ballot for the SPCN positions that are slated for election in 2014. The positions open for election this year include: President, Secretary, and Member-at-large. You may self-nominate or nominate another member. If you nominate another member, you must check with that member to ensure that they are willing to run! The term of office is two years. You have the option of running for this position again. Descriptions from the By-laws for these positions as well as a statement about the current responsibilities are as follows:
President – shall preside at all meetings of the members and of the Board of Directors, shall have general supervision of the affairs of the Corporation, and shall keep the Board of Directors fully informed about the activities of the Corporation. She shall have the power to sign alone, unless the Board of Directors specifically require an additional signature, in the name of the Corporation all contracts authorized either generally or specifically by the Board. She shall perform such other duties as shall from time to time be assigned to her by the Board of Directors.
In addition to presiding at all meetings, the President represents SPCN when requested at meetings involving other national pediatric organizations, such as the Institute of Pediatric Nursing. The President also ensures that the Board members execute the responsibilities of their position and trouble shoots problem and issues that may arise during the year.
Secretary – shall act as secretary of all meetings of the members and the Board of Directors, and shall keep minutes of all such meetings. She shall be responsible for the giving and serving of all notices of the Corporation and shall perform all the duties customarily incident to the office of the Secretary, subject to the control of the Board of Directors, and shall perform such other duties as shall from time to time be assigned by the Board of Directors.
The primary duties of this office include maintaining the membership roster and taking minutes at both the Business and Board Meetings.
Member-at-Large – represents the general membership on the Board. They are elected for a two year term and may be reappointed. They shall perform such duties as shall from time to time be designated by the Board of Directors.
The primary duties of this office include sending membership information to new members and responding to member questions. This officer also may be responsible for projects at the discretion of the Board and President.
